The big lore issue is the Fusion Core thing, but that is actually easily explained even in the real-world massive systems/system that could recycle or have very little active draw would allow Cores to last for a very long time, or if they're just sitting around. Lore-wise, the armor also acts and feels more like the powerful beasts they were depicted as, and definitely could've had the massive impact they're depicted as having on the war front.
